Police in Zomba have arrested a 32-year-old-man, Frank Mereka, for allegedly robbing a German national.
According to Zomba Police Station deputy public relations officer Aaron Chilala, on July 23,2023, Stephanie Mayer was robbed of money in foreign currency, an iPhone and assorted documents around Zomba Mountain as she was heading to Ku Chawe Inn.
Chilala said after receipt of the report, on July 30 2023 the police found some of the stolen documents dumped within the mountain.
The publicist further said after the discovery of the documents, the police continued with investigations which has led to the recent arrest of the suspect.
“He has been found in possession of an iPhone that got stolen during the robbery which the owner has identified,” he said.
Mereka who hails from Chiwalo Village in Traditional Authority Kapoloma in Machinga District is expected to appear before court soon.
