The Lusaka Magistrate Court has set November 27, 2023 for trial in a matter where former First Lady ESTHER LUNGU and four others are charged with four counts of theft of three vehicles and grabbing of a certificate of title.

Mrs. LUNGU is jointly charged with JAMES PHIRI, LEE CHISULO, and two police officers KAPEMBWA LUNGU and CATHERINE BANDA.

LUSAKA Magistrate MBUYANWA SINVULA set the date for trial in the matter when Mrs. LUNGU and her co-accused appeared before her for mention.

The vehicles allegedly belong to ELIZABETH PHIRI, a relative of Mrs. LUNGU.

Mrs. LUNGU is also individually charged with possession of 400 thousand US dollars deemed to be proceeds of crime.

She is also accused of grabbing a certificate of title for Mrs. PHIRI’s land.
