“We want to return to our area,” -Concerned Citizens in Nsanje

People of Makhanga village in Nsanje trading under the banner Concerned Citizens have penned DC of the district questioning a move by government to relocate them to upland area without consulting them.

In a letter signed by 12 people including the chairman of the group, Peter Duncan said that they are surprised that the government is forcing them to go to high places where there is no place to sleep, food and other.

“Government is violating our rights by closing the hospitals and schools, and we want government to restore our areas so that we can return,” said Duncan.

Meanwhile, the DC of the district Dominic Mwandira is yet to respond to the letter.

Nsanje district is one of the districts that have been affected by heavy rains in this country, and a lot of houses have been destroyed by the heavy rains.
