MEWA speaks out after rampart Students demonstration in Secondary Schools

Malawi Education Writers Association (MEWA) has said it is concerned with the growing trend of violence that is happening in boarding secondary schools.

According to the press statement signed by the acting secretary of the association, Emmanuel Continhu Malunga, this practice has been growing since 2019 and it is disrupting education.

The statement added that this is happening when the country is eyeing for the vision 2063 agenda with the aim of having the upper education.

‘This is happening at a time when Malawi is eying for the 2063 agenda who’s amongst key achievements is infrastructural development which is being destroyed now,” reads part of the statement.

The association has asked students in this country to know the difference between their rights and their responsibilities and parents should seriously look at how their children are being brought up.

Recently the Ministry of Education closed Dedza Secondary School, Malosa Secondary School Robert Break Secondary and Ntcheu Secondary school due to violent activities by the students.
