High Court Order Stands: DPP Must Hold Elective Convention in 90 Days

The Supreme Court of Appeal sitting in Blantyre has scraped off an application for appeal by the main opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) challenging a High Court order for the party to hold its elective convention within 90 days.

The party wanted a suspend the implementation of the ruling by Judge Simeon Mdeza pending appeal.

According to the ruling made available to this publication, the High Court just adjourned the matter brought before it hence the dismissal.

Meanwhile during the parties National Governing Council yesterday in Mangochi Leader for the party Peter Mutharika has announced that he will contest as a President for the party in the forthcoming convention slated for 26th December 2023.
