Police in Balaka district have arrested a 16 year old boy on suspicion of stealing various goods worth about 4.7 million kwacha from the district hospital.
Balaka police spokesperson Gladson M’bumpha, has confirmed of the arrest in an interview with press, saying the suspect committed the offence on December 19, 2023.
According to M’bumpha, the suspect broke the door of an office at the hospital and stole various electrical items such as fans, three computers, wires connecting printers and air conditioner.
The suspect comes from Nsamala village in the area of chief Mponda in Balaka district and he will appear in court soon on a charge of housebreaking and stealing property.
