Tabitha Chawinga inspires PSG to Champions League Quarterfinals

Malawi National Women’s Football Team captain, Tabitha Chawinga, produced a player of the match performance for her side, PSG Feminines after registering a goal to help the team reach the Quarter finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions following a 2-2 draw against Bayern München in Germany on Tuesday night.

The Malawian International, scored an important equalizer after canceling out Giulia Gwinn’s first half lead on 73rd minute before Sydney Lohmann restored Bayern’s lead in the 78th minute but two minutes later Georgia Stanway scored an own goal to force the match to end in a 2-2 stalemate.

The win means that PSG have qualified for the knockout stage after topping Group C with 10 points ahead of Ajax who finished on position two while Bayern finished third in the Group with seven points, missing out on the knockout stage.

Tabitha continues to make history as she will be the first Malawian footballer to play in the Champions’ League group knockout stage.
