Police in Mangochi have arrested a 34-year-old man, Robert Josaya, for allegedly killing his 27-year-old wife, Edna Molesi, over marital affairs.
Mangochi Police Station spokesperson, Amina Tepani Daudi, said preliminary investigations show that on February 10, 2024, around 19:00 hrs, the husband went to a nearby shop to buy airtime but stayed longer than expected.
Daudi said the wife followed and met the husband on his way back home.
A quarrel erupted as the wife accused him of seeing another woman, which led to a fight upon arrival at home.
“It is alleged that the husband left the house the same night after the fight. Neighbours heard the uncontrollable cry of the baby from the house, which was locked from inside, forced a door open, and found the wife lying dead with multiple head injuries,” explained Tepani Daudi.
