Former Commissioner of the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Jean Mathanga has been appointed as National Director of Elections in the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
DPP Administrative Secretary Francis Mphepo has confirmed of the appointment in a statement made available to this publication.
According to Mphepo, the appointment of Mathanga is with effect from February 19, 2024.
Mathanga was among the team that administered the nullified 2019 Presidential polls which saw former President Peter Mutharika being re-elected.
The court nullified the polls and called for fresh Presidential polls.
