The First Grade magistrate court in Mzimba on Wednesday, convicted and sentenced 51yeard-old Musa Ali Phiri to a 5 years imprisonment with hard labour for abducting and indecently assaulting 2 girls of below 16 years of age at Jenda.
Public Relations Officer for Jenda police station, Macfallen Mseteka says Phiri committed the offense during the night of 15th to 16th August, 2023 by taking the 2 girls to an unknown place where he played with their private parts.
The court found Phiri guilty and slapped him with a 5 years imprisonment with hard labour for indecent assault and 2 years imprisonment with hard labour for abduction of girls under the age of 16 contrary to sections 136(1) and 135 of the penal code which will run concurrently.
Phiri hails from Mpunga village, Traditional Authority Kawinga in Machinga district.
