Govt reduces passport fees, printing to resume this week

The Immigration Department has said it has completed restoring the e-Passport Issuance System.

It adds government has also reduced the e-Passport fee by 55 percent for local Malawians from K90 000 to K50 000.

However, the department’s Director General Brigadier Charles Kalumo {Retired} says printing of passports is expected to start gradually this week in Lilongwe and will later transcends to other regions.

President Lazarus Chakwera gave the immigration leadership up to three weeks to sort out the passport mess. The deadline expires tomorrow, Wednesday.
