Leadership with Compassion Party (LCP) President Dr. Sally Kumwenda has released a registration certificate as a direct response to the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) move to bar its two candidate from the by-elections in Karonga.
Speaking during stakeholders meeting in Karonga today MEC Commissioner Francis Kasaila disclosed that two LCP candidates have been barred on the basis basis that their party is not yet registered with the Registrar of Political Parties.
After the news was announced, faceofmalawi reporter contacted Dr. Kumwenda who looked so surprised with MEC decision.
“Lol. Not registered? Where did you hear this from?” queried Kumwenda.
She then later sent a proof of the party’s registration.
MEC is scheduled to hold by-elections in in Kaporo, Chilanga and Rukuru wards on 26 this month.
