A construction vehicle which reportedly carried gravel for maintenance of the surface of the Mbawa- Edingeni earth road has overturned at Mbawa Bridge.
Reports indicate the bridge was in a dilapidated state and could not withstand the weight of the construction vehicle.
The road is being rehabilitated in anticipation of President Lazarus Chakwera’s visit to Edingeni within the week.
However, authorities from the district council have said that they are currently putting much efforts to ensure that the road to Edingeni is in good shape for the Presidential visit.
The accident happens after President Chakwera postponed his trip to visit Edingeni last week due to heavy rains which had rendered most roads impassable.
