ESCOM denies tariff hike rumours

Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) has trashed hovering on social media claiming that the state owned company has effected a tariff hike on electricity.

Over the weekend the social media was awash with rumours that ESCOM has effected another 50.8 percent tariff hike creating panic among Malawians.

But in reaction ESCOM trashed the rumours, claiming it is fake.

According to the statement, the electricity tariff remains the same as it was announced during the devaluation of the kwacha in September last year.
