Angry Villagers Storms Agricane Limited In Chikwawa For A Murder Revenge

Angry villagers in the area of Traditional Authority Maseya in Chikwawa are baying for the blood of some security guards for Agricane Limited, who have allegedly killed a man suspected of stealing some sugarcane.

Ward councillor for the area, Gerald Bede, said the deceased, David Peter, had reportedly gone to the sugarcane fields Tuesday night to bring back his cattle, which had broken out of the kraal, only to meet his fate.

He said yesterday, before the burial of the deceased, the angry villagers went on a rampage, vandalising properties for the sugar cane growing company and demolishing houses for the suspected security guards currently on the run.

Meanwhile, Traditional Authority Maseya said he is intending to engage the Agricane Limited authorities to find the best ways of compensating the bereaved.

There has not been an immediate reaction from officials from the company as well as from law enforcers in the district over the matter.
