The Independence Arch in Blantyre, a national monument, and symbol of Malawi’s liberation from colonialists has become a home for the homeless people and a hideout of criminals.

The arch which is now is in a dilapidated and vandalized state as is it now is serving as a home.

Lost History Foundation Executive Director Conleith Selenje and social commentator, Victor Chipofya, are not amused and shocked that such a priceless national landmark is in that state calling on authorities to act immediately.

Director for the department of museums and national monuments, Dr. Lovemore Mazibuko says they will act based on our findings once they assess the structure.
