A 26 year old man, Chris Kambani, of Kasanse Village in Sinazongwe District has committed suicide after consuming a suspected pesticide.
The incident was reported to Sinazeze Police Post by Oliver Simomole, a Neighborhood Watch Committee Chairperson of the same village.
It is reported that the deceased’s lifeless body was discovered in the nearby bush close to his house on Monday the 29th of April 2024 at around 06:00 Hours.
Brief facts of the matter are that the wife, Yvonne Mavwele, woke up at about 04:00 Hours and upon realizing that her husband was missing, she alerted the other wife, neighbors and the village headman who started searching for the deceased.
In the process of looking for him, they found an empty bottle of a pesticide for cotton crops labelled SPEAR and a few metres away he was spotted in an unconscious state.
A suicide note was later discovered in the pair of the trousers he was wearing stating that he had been unwell since 2023 and had left behind two cattle, eight goats and K630 cash in the phone.
Police visited the scene and established that the deceased died after taking a poisonous substance and no physical injury was observed on the body except a whitish substance in the mouth and nose.
Police have since revealed that no foul play is suspected and the Family has been advised to bury and mark the grave.
