Before her thrust into the limelight, she worked as a debt collector for four years. However, she later switched the floor to entertainment. She had her shot to fame when she started performing at Durban’s Eyadini Lounge. Her dance moves and skimpy outfits attracted the attention of fans, and she became popular.

Against the backdrop of her newfound fame, Zodwa Wabantu started performing at popular establishments, including Rock Club in Soweto. She went on to join Afrotainment, a record label owned by DJ Tira. Since then, she has been winning big.
