Demonstrations against use of IDs for voters underway in Lilongwe

Concerned Citizen trading under the banner Economic Freedom Movement are this morning holding demonstrations to force the government to re-consider use of National Identity Cards (IDs) as the only requirement for one to vote in the 2024 polls.
The protesters are matching peacefully from Crossroads to High Court premises in Area 3 where they will present a petition on the matter.
The concerned citizen led by Joseph Peshi want the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) to allow everyone who is a Malawian to be allowed to vote in the 2025 polls.
Security is very tight as armed police officers are all over.
