Man commits suicide by hanging in Chikwawa

A 32 year old man, Mayeso McDonald has committed suicide by hanging himself in his house.
According to Chikwawa Police Station deputy publicist, Constable Chancy Mfune the incident occurred on 9th December ,2024 at Kadzitche village, TA Makhwira in Chikwawa District.
It is reported that the deceased borrowed money amounting to K300,000 from a certain business man and agreed to pay back in the month of December after harvesting his rice.
However, he failed to honor the agreement, as he squandered the money he earned after selling the rice without informing his wife.
On the above mentioned date,he hanged himself to the roof of his house with a wrapper whilst his wife was away. He was discovered by his younger brother who informed his father and then reported the matter to Makhwira police unit where officers together with medical personnel from Makhwira Health Center visited the scene.
Postmortem examination was conducted and it revealed that death was due to suffocation, secondary to strangulation.
Mayeso McDonald hailed from Kadzitche Village in the area of Traditional Authority Makhwira in Chikwawa District.
