Lightning Strike in Karonga Leaves Fisherman Missing, Three Injured

A lightning strike in Karonga has left one fisherman missing and three others injured. The injured men received outpatient care at St. Anne’s Hospital.
Eyewitness Chananga Mhango said the group set out to fish around 9 pm in Chitende area when heavy rains and lightning struck unexpectedly.
Principal Village Headman Thumbiko Munthali Ndatira has called for financial help to buy fuel for boats to aid in the search for the missing fisherman. The search is set to begin on Wednesday.
The victims, all from Phapa in Babalukuni Village under T/A Mwilang’ombe, are part of the local fishing community.
