A 16-year-old boy from Chaminade Secondary School in Lilongwe is reportedly suffering from seizures after allegedly being severely beaten by the school’s headteacher, Father James.

The boy’s mother, Chandice Msungama, disclosed that the incident occurred weeks ago when Father James physically assaulted her son at the school. She added that her son sustained serious head injuries, which have since triggered periodic seizures.

Msungama revealed that they are now seeking medical assistance to address the boy’s condition.

Father James, originally from Kenya, was arrested following the incident but has since been released on police bail.

In light of this development, the Ministry of Education shut down Chaminade Secondary School last week, citing ongoing reports of abuse and harsh punishments inflicted on students by teachers.
