Police in Kalomo, Zambia, have discovered the body of woman identified as ‘Anivess Madubansi’ whose private parts were mutilated. The grim discovery was made by three children, aged between eight and 12 years, who found the body in a bush near their community.
Southern Province Deputy Commanding Officer Moono Faula Namalongo confirmed the incident, stating that the body was found on Saturday, January 18. He also confirmed that investigations have begun to apprehend those responsible for the heinous act.
According to Mr. Namalongo, a 70-year-old man reported the discovery after the children, who were out hunting birds, stumbled upon the lifeless body and alerted him.
“Acting on the report, police officers rushed to the scene and found the said body of an unidentified female person. The dead body of Anivess was found facing upward with legs wide open while partially dressed with no underwear. The facial area appeared a bit swollen, and the private parts were mutilated. The underwear was found just adjacent to the body,” said Mr. Namalongo.
The Public Health Department was contacted, and a joint operation was arranged for the burial of the body, with the grave to be marked.
The police are investigating the incident and urging anyone with information to come forward.
