Police in Mzuzu have launched a manhunt for Precious whose last name is not yet known for allegedly killing his 29-year-old wife, Love Ipola, in Chibanja Township, in the city.
The couple had been married long-distance for two years, with the wife (now deceased) residing in Chibanja township and the suspect working at Viphya plantation in Mzimba district.
On January 27, 2025, the suspect returned home from the Viphya plantation, and the couple went out for drinks in the same area. Later on that night, around 10:00 pm, they returned home and got into a fight over unknown misunderstandings as the neighbours could hear loud voices from their house.
The next morning, on January 28, 2025, around 7:00 am, the victim was found lying unconscious on the veranda of their house, surrounded by a pool of blood.
The incident was reported to Mzuzu Police Station, and Police detectives visited the crime scene, where they found blood stains and a broken empty bottle.
The body was conveyed to Mzuzu Central Hospital mortuary pending post-mortem examination.
The suspect is currently at large. However, Mzuzu Police assures community members that they are working tirelessly to apprehend the husband as soon as possible.
Police in Mzuzu are urging couples to report any instances of domestic violence to the authorities and to seek counselling at the Victim Support Unit office at the station or any nearest Police unit within the city.
Ipola was from Mwasulumba Village, Traditional Authority Kiripula in Karonga district.
