Court Slapped 3 Men 12 Years Imprisonment Over Burglary and Theft In Lilongwe

The Lilongwe First Grade Magistrate’s court has convicted and sentenced Chikondi Majiga, 26, Liston Kamwendo, 39, and Precious Amosi,26, to twelve years Imprisonment with hard labour for Burglary and theft.
The Court heard through the State Prosecutor inspector Jolly Kamazilu that, On the night of 08 December 2024, the three went to Osly Gershom Ndlovu residence in Area 43 and went away with Hisense plasma, HP laptop, shaving machine, JBL headset and assorted beer. All properties valued at K8,250,000.
Kamazilu continued telling the court that, the three were using two motor vehicles in conducting crimes at Area 43.
Upon investigations Lingadzi Police detectives arrested Chikondi Majiga and Precious Amosi at Nathenje and Liston Kamwendo at Bvumbwe in Thyolo where they were hiding.
Appearing in court they were found guilty to the charges levelled against them and In their mitigations, they asked court’s leniency when sentencing them saying that they are first offenders and have families to look after.
In his submission, State prosecutor Kamazilu prayed for stiffer punishment citing that the seriousness nature of the offence and that they planned to commit the offence.
Passing the sentence, First Grade Magistrate’s grade Imran Phiri concurred with the state’s submission and slapped them to twelve years for burglary and ten months for theft but the sentences to run concurrently.
Chikondi Majiga hails from Matewere village in Traditional Authority (T/A) Nsabwe , While Liston Kamwendo and Precious hails from Matekenya village in T/A Nsabwe both from Thyolo district.
