Police in Kawale have arrested a 29-year-old, Mikel Juwawo for attempting to defile with a three-year-old girl.

According to Kawale Police Public Relations Officer, Precious Mabvuto Phiri, the incident occurred on Sunday within Kawale 2.

He said the mother heard the uncontrollable cry of her child in the maize field which is close to the house where upon approaching the field, she met Mikel coming out of the maize garden while zipping up his trouser in haste with the girl left in the garden undressed.

Phiri further said angry villagers caught the suspect and brought him to Kawale Police for further action. He is expected to appear in court soon after completion of paper work.
