Kalisto Pasuwa will have to wait before officially taking charge as the head coach of the Malawi national football team, the Flames.
The delay comes after the Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) raised concerns over irregularities in the recruitment process.
Speaking to the media, MNCS spokesperson Edgar Ntulumbwa confirmed that the hiring process has been suspended due to a breach of recruitment procedures.
“It’s not that MNCS is against the appointment of a Flames head coach, but due process must be followed. All eligible candidates should have been allowed to apply and undergo assessments before selecting the best-suited individual,” said Ntulumbwa.
Reports indicate that the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has already handed Pasuwa a two-year contract, but the governing body has yet to officially confirm the development.
Meanwhile, the Flames are gearing up for crucial World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, making the appointment of a head coach a pressing matter.
