The Lilongwe Magistrate Court has ruled that the National AIDS Commission (NAC) is responsible for the unauthorized disclosure of an individual’s health status by Hanna Jabes, popularly known as Tamia Ja on social media.
According to court proceedings, Jabes allegedly revealed confidential health information about a person on her social media page without their consent. The prosecution argues that this act violated privacy rights and ethical guidelines regarding sensitive medical information.
Matthews Chawinga, one of NAC’s legal representatives, stated that the defense faced challenges in responding to the allegations as they received crucial court documents from NAC late.
The court session continues as legal teams present their arguments, following an earlier adjournment of the case.
