The Blantyre District Health Office (DHO) has recorded 40,000 cases of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in 2024 alone, a figure that has raised concerns among health officials.
Blantyre DHO spokesperson Chrissy Banda confirmed the development, attributing the rise in cases to unprotected sex and multiple sexual partners.
Meanwhile, Health Rights Activist Maziko Matemba has described the situation as alarming and has urged Malawians to prioritize protected sex to reduce the spread of STIs.
