Chikwawa Again: Flash Floods Affect 247 Households in Chikwawa

Flash floods have once again struck Chikwawa, affecting 247 households under Traditional Authority Lundu. Heavy rainfall over the past two days, combined with already high water levels in the Shire River, has led to significant flooding in the area.
According to Charity Machika, Chikwawa Disaster Risk Management Officer, the situation is still being assessed, with the number of affected households likely to rise. Current assessments are focused on GVH Mateyu, with additional evaluations underway in GVH Chavilakale and TA Ngabu.
The community is now bracing for further impacts, as efforts to provide relief are ongoing.
