Trade and Industry Minister Vitumbiko Mumba, along with the Competition and Fair Trading Commission (CFTC), has closed the Chipiku Game store in Lilongwe for allegedly hoarding sugar.

According to the minister, reports indicated that the store was deliberately withholding sugar from consumers by falsely claiming it was out of stock.

Meanwhile, Mumba and CFTC officials have compelled the store owner to release the product, allowing some customers present at the scene to purchase it.
