Man Gets 7 Year Jail Term For R4ping Mentally Challenged Girl In Chiradzulu

The First Grade Magistrate’s Court in Chiradzulu has sentenced a 20-year-old man to seven years in prison after he was found guilty of having sex with a 16-year-old girl with a mental disability.
The court heard from Superintendent Peter Piringu that the man committed the crime on January 30, 2025.
Although he denied the charges when he appeared in court, the prosecution presented five witnesses who found the man guilty.
The man pleaded for leniency as this was his first time committing the crime, which the prosecution argued was serious.
First Grade Magistrate Smart Mwaruwasa ordered the man, who is from Mponda village under the jurisdiction of the Onga chief in the district, to serve seven years in prison.
