Mutale Mwanza Fails to File Defense in Diamond TV Defamation Case

Zambian socialite and media personality Mutale Mwanza has failed to submit her defense in a defamation lawsuit filed by Diamond TV over remarks she made about its Personality of the Year Awards (POTYAS).
Ms. Mwanza allegedly referred to the awards as “fraudulent and a scam” in a Facebook post, prompting the television station to take legal action in November 2024. Since then, she has not responded to the lawsuit, leading Diamond TV to seek a default judgment.
The court is now set to rule on the matter and provide further directives. In its lawsuit, Diamond TV is demanding damages for defamation, mental anguish, and financial losses. Additionally, the station is seeking an injunction to prevent Ms. Mwanza from making further allegedly libelous statements.
Diamond TV maintains that Ms. Mwanza’s remarks were baseless, malicious, and damaging to its reputation. The case continues to draw public interest as observers await the court’s decision.
