Leader of the United Democratic Front (UDF), Atupele Muluzi, has claimed that he is receiving threats from unknown individuals, whom he alleges to be officials from the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP).
Muluzi made the revelations through a post on his official Facebook page on March 9, 2025, stating that he was threatened with arrest following his remarks during an interview on Zodiak Radio.
“I will not be intimidated! This evening, I received a call threatening me with arrest by the MCP government simply because I spoke the truth during my interview on Zodiak Radio.
Let me be clear—I am standing up for the people of Malawi, and no amount of threats or intimidation will silence me. Our democracy must be defended, and I will not back down.
If speaking the truth is a crime, then bring it on!” read the post.
Meanwhile, it is also reported that Muluzi has been summoned by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for questioning. He suspects that the call to appear before the bureau is linked to his recent statements, suggesting that some individuals in government are not happy with what he said.
At the time of writing this,, ACB officials have not commented on the matter.
