Police Launch Manhunt For Murderers Of Motorbike Operator In Liwonde

Liwonde Police Station has launched a manhunt for a murder suspect who killed Mr. Yusuf Abdul, a 31-year-old motorbike operator.
Abdul was found dead with a severe chest wound, and his black Lifan motorbike, valued at MK1.8 million, was stolen.
Liwonde Police Station Public Relations Officer Sergeant Ngwashape Msume confirmed the development. According to Msume, Abdul was a well-known Kabaza motorbike operator in Liwonde township.
On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at around 20:00 hours, Abdul was seen by his fellow operators carrying an unknown customer heading towards the Liwonde-Zomba tarmac road, but he did not return.
Msume stated that on Thursday, March 13, at around 06:00 hours, Abdul was found dead in a pool of blood, with only a crushed helmet beside his body.
The issue was reported to Liwonde Police Station, where Criminal Investigation Officers, accompanied by a Medical Officer from Machinga District Hospital, visited the crime scene and conducted a postmortem.
The postmortem revealed that Abdul’s death was due to severe hemorrhage caused by a chest stab wound.
The police are currently searching for the suspect and urging the public to provide any information regarding the murder.
Following the incident, Liwonde Police Station appealed to all Kabaza operators to be extra cautious when operating their trade, especially at night.
The deceased, Mr. Yusuf Abdul, hailed from Kumpalira Village, Traditional Authority Sitola in Machinga District.
