Woman Netted In Chikwawa For Dumping Newly-Born Baby In Pit Latrine

The police in Ngabu Chikwawa have arrested a 27 year-old woman, Tisunge Jipson, for allegedly concealing birth of a child.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Dickson Matemba, says the incident occurred today at Thobwa village in T/A Ngabu in the district. The woman allegedly dumped her baby in a pit latrine.

“One of the neighbours was suspicious after hearing the baby crying in the pit latrine when he wanted to answer the call of nature.

“He informed others and managed to retrieve the baby from the latrine. The baby was rushed to Ngabu Rural Hospital for medication.The incident was reported to Ngabu law enforcers who arrested the suspect.”

Apparently the suspect has told the law enforcers that her husband had been denying responsibility over the pregnancy prompting her to dump the baby into the latrine after delivery.
