Renowned Malawian musician Nepman has successfully regained control of his official Facebook page after it was hacked last Saturday.

In a message shared via WhatsApp, Nepman thanked fans and media outlets for their swift action in raising awareness about the hack.

“You were the first to inform Malawians that my Facebook page had been hacked last Saturday, so I thought I should update you that it is now fully recovered,” he stated.

The musician, who is currently based in the United States, lost access to his page after cybercriminals took over its management. Following the hack, inappropriate content, including naked videos and misleading posts, was uploaded, confusing many of his followers, who were unaware that his account had been compromised.

Speaking exclusively to this publication, the “Na Lero hitmaker confirmed that everything is now back to normal. He also revealed that he is in communication with Facebook to strengthen the security of his account and expects to receive a verification badge (blue checkmark) soon.

To further address the issue, Nepman took to his recovered Facebook page to apologise to his fans, posting on his story:

“I want to apologise for the unusual photos that appeared on my page in the past two days. These were posted without my permission due to the hacking incident. Fortunately, we’ve successfully recovered the account.”
