Information reaching this publication indicates that the Ministry of Homeland Security has revoked a Malawian diplomatic passport that was issued to Nigerian businessperson Dozy Mmobuosi.

Speaking in an interview earlier, Minister of Homeland Security Ezekiel Ching’oma confirmed the development, stating that Mmobuosi and all border authorities have been notified of the government’s decision to revoke and withdraw his Malawian passport.

Mmobuosi, who is now a convicted fraudster in the United States, had previously pledged to construct 1,000 houses for families displaced by Cyclone Freddy in Phalombe under the Tigwirane Manja Housing Project.

The Ministry’s decision has raised further questions about how Mmobuosi initially obtained the diplomatic passport, and whether proper vetting procedures were followed.

Authorities have yet to comment on whether an investigation will be launched into the matter.
