Final-Year UNIMA Student Found Dead in Suspected Suicide Near Campus

A final-year student at the University of Malawi (UNIMA), Yamikani Zachariah, has been found dead in a suspected case of suicide near the university.

Reports suggest that the late Yamikani took his own life by hanging in an area near the campus known as Tholo. The reasons behind the tragic act remain unknown at this time.

Fellow students say Yamikani was pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and was in his final year of studies.

Zomba Police spokesperson Patricia Sipiliano confirmed the incident but said investigations are still ongoing.

“We cannot provide full details at the moment, as the case is under investigation,” she stated.
