As Malawians continue to suffer from tuberculosis and Leprosy, Nation TB and Leprosy elimination Programme has today in Salima asked 30 journalists and some religious leaders across the country to provide reports on how Malawi is progressing in fighting against Tuberculosis and Leprosy.
Speaking during the meeting the Monitoring and evaluation officer for Nation TB and Leprosy elimination Programme Dickens Chimatiro said despite lack of funding the country is trying to fight against the disease.
‘We have been highly affected as country following U.S government decision to stop funding us because 44% of 100% of the budget for TB was coming from the international aids and government was only providing 1% and the rest was from unfunded’ said Chimatiro.
Commending on the matter Healthy rights activist George Jobe cited that the government has to consider on increasing the funding on Tb intervation because 1% is not enough.
