High Court Judge Violet Chipao has set May 20, 2025, as the date for the continuation of the corruption case involving Norman Chisale, the former security aide to former President Peter Mutharika.

The State accuses Chisale of accumulating unexplained wealth amounting to K5 billion during his time in public service—a sum authorities say he has failed to justify.

During today’s proceedings, Judge Chipao instructed the prosecution to ensure that all necessary documents are shared with the defense ahead of the next hearing. The warning followed a disruption last Friday, when some key documents expected to be used by the prosecution’s witness were missing from the court file.

State prosecutor Dzikondianthu Malunda acknowledged the oversight, saying it was unintentional and assured the court that all required documents will be submitted before the May 20 session.

On the other hand, Chisale’s lawyer, Gilbert Khonyongwa, emphasized that access to all relevant documents is crucial to ensure a fair trial.
