Renowned Malawian musician Patience Namadingo, popularly known as Dr Namadingo, has dismissed claims that his upcoming performance at Scallas Café in Blantyre on 24th May 2025 is a fundraising event for his school construction project in Machinga.

The artist, who is currently in Machinga District overseeing the construction of a classroom block he pledged to build at Wataka Primary School, responded after Mikozi, a popular Malawian Facebook page, linked the show to fundraising efforts for the project.

Mikozi’s post read: “Week yamawa Saturday, 24th May, Doc akhala ali ku Scallas Café kupanga ndalama ya cement. Pajatu Doc ali pa project yomanga ma classroom block ku Machinga. Pa 24 ku Scallas konkooo.” (Translated as;This coming week on Saturday, 24th May, Doc will be at Scallas Café fundraising for cement. As you know, Doc is working on a project to build classroom blocks in Machinga. So on the 24th, it’s all happening at Scallas)

Namadingo quickly corrected the misinformation by commenting on the post: “Wrong information. this is  not fundraising… this is just a show I’m booked to perform at. Not to buy cement. Just say I’ll perform, not that we want to buy cement. This has nothing to do with my project.”

The artist clarified that while he is fully committed to the Wataka Primary School project, the Scallas Café event is a separate, commercial performance.

Namadingo is currently building a 33×8 meter classroom block with three classrooms, a project that he estimates will cost MK106,059,336.25.
