Man Arrested in Limbe for Impersonating Soldier and Defrauding Job Seekers

Police in Limbe are keeping a 24-year-old man, in custody on suspicion of impersonating a Malawi Defence Force (MDF) soldier and defrauding people in Bangwe out of their money.
Limbe Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, Chibisa Mulimbika, has confirmed the arrest and identified the fake soldier as Emmanuel Davie.
According to Mulimbika, Davie was spotted wearing an MDF uniform around the Chipagala area near BCA Hill in Blantyre, where he was allegedly collecting money from people by promising them jobs in the army.
Concerned citizens reported him to Bangwe Police, who later apprehended him.
Davie hails from Malata Village, Traditional Authority Makhuwira, in Chikwawa District.
