Vitumbiko Mumba, the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) aspiring candidate for Mzimba Central, has proposed an out-of-court settlement for the party’s internal electoral dispute.
Through his lawyer, Khumbo Soko, Mumba has written to the MCP Secretary General requesting an amicable resolution through open and sincere dialogue.
Soko stated that his client prefers dialogue to expedite the process and allow enough time for candidates to prepare for the upcoming September polls.
He expressed hope that the party would share this view and prioritize a credible and timely primary election in the constituency.
The proposal aims to avoid prolonged legal battles that could disrupt the election timeline.
Soko emphasized the importance of transparency and fairness in resolving the disagreement.
However, MCP Secretary General Richard Chimwendo Banda is yet to comment on the matter.
