Man Gets 12-Year Jail Term for Defiling Minor in Dowa

The Mkukula First Grade Magistrate Court has sentenced 27-year-old Jossam Bickton Kaipa to 12 years imprisonment for defiling a 12-year-old girl.
Magistrate Mervis Sulumba handed down the sentence after hearing evidence from prosecution witness Sergeant Ruth Kalimona.
The court established that Kaipa committed the offense on May 14 this year when the victim visited her grandmother’s home in Dowa.
Medical reports presented in court confirmed the defilement after the minor reported the incident to her parents.
Kaipa, who hails from Njombwa Village in Kasungu District, will serve his sentence at Dowa Prison.
