7 Men Sentenced to 21 Years Each for Robbery at SANA and Asterik Systems in Lilongwe

Seven men have been convicted and sentenced to 21 years imprisonment with hard labour each by the Lilongwe Senior Resident Magistrate court for the offence of robbery that happened a few days ago at Gravity mall SANA and Asterik systems Limited at City Centre in Lilongwe.
Deputy Public Relations Officer for Lingadzi Police Station Sergeant Maria Kumwenda has confirmed of the development indicating that all the seven convicts pleaded guilty to the offence of robbery.
She has identified the convicts as George Wells, 43, Stanford Mulowa, 43, Kennedy Maluwa, 45, Mike Banda, 35, Weston Richard, 32, Kenneth William, 45, and Harry Raphael, 47.
“The court heard through state prosecutor Sub Inspector Felix William Swnzani of Lingadzi Police Station that, on May 3rd, 2025 during the night time, the convicts broke into SANA shop and went away with K20 million cash, HP laptop, cosmetics, power banks and bricks of cigarettes,” Kumwenda revealed.To add on that, the convicts also believed to have committed robberies in areas 43, 25 and Njewa in the city.
“Upon investigations, the suspects were arrested in various districts where they were coming from and in the course of investigation police recovered a pistol and a toy gun that was used in the commission of the robberies,” she indicated.
