Three Women Arrested for House Theft in Lilongwe

Police in Lilongwe have arrested three women suspected of stealing various items from a house in Area 36.

Lilongwe Police spokesperson Inspector Hastings Chigalu, has confirmed the arrest and identified the suspects  as Chimwemwe Chembe, aged 39, Elizabeth Mkwezalamba, 36, and Memory Eliasi, 46.

Inspector Chigalu explained that Chimwemwe Chembe had been monitoring a house whose owners had recently vacated. She then informed Elizabeth Mkwezalamba about the situation and instructed her to break into the locked room where the owners had left their belongings.

Mkwezalamba, in turn, involved Memory Eliasi, who suggested recruiting three men to help with the burglary. Together, the group managed to break into the house and steal various items.

However, thanks to community members who tipped off the police, the three women were apprehended. Police are still hunting for the three male accomplices who remain at large.
