The trial of Patricia Kaliati, who is accused of plotting to assassinate President Lazarus Chakwera, failed to commence today in court in Lilongwe.
As of now, the exact reason for the delay remains unknown. Both the prosecution and the defense arrived at the court, stating they were ready to proceed and were waiting for Chief Resident Magistrate Austin Banda to continue the trial.
However, by this afternoon, the magistrate had not appeared. As a result, the court will have to set a new date for the continuation of the trial.
The government has lined up 15 witnesses, but so far, only two have testified in court.
