PAC Warns Parties Against Handout Campaign Tactics

The Public Affairs Committee (PAC) has called on the Registrar of Political Parties to take action against political parties that use handouts as a campaign strategy ahead of Malawi’s general elections in September.

PAC spokesperson Bishop Gilford Matonga said parties must adhere to proper campaign procedures and avoid practices that undermine democratic principles.

He further stressed the importance of promoting peace, love, and unity during rallies and urged leaders to focus on issue-based campaigns by highlighting their party manifestos. Matonga also encouraged political leaders to inspire voter participation.
