Police Hunt Woman Suspected of Dumping Newborn in River in Nkhotakota

Police in Nkhotakota have launched a manhunt for an unidentified woman suspected of dumping her newborn baby into the Chabuwu River on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 28, 2025.
According to Nkhotakota Police Public Relations Officer, Paul Malimwe, the incident came to light after Group Village Headman (GVH) Lunda reported the discovery of a fetus floating in the river near Lunda Village.
Officers responded swiftly to the scene, and the remains have since been transported to Nkhotakota District Hospital for medical examination.
Authorities have opened an investigation to identify and apprehend the suspect responsible for the act.
